The predecessor of the Hungarian Islamic Community was established by the Hungarian, Bosnian and Albanian muslims of the country in 1931.

The relationship between Islam and Hungary traced back to 1400 years, so the foundation of the community in 1931-according to the modern law was a symbol of the continuity. At the end of the communism the Hungarian Islamic Community (MIK) obtained state license and became a state recognized religious institution and in 1990 this license was confirmed again. At the creation of the latest church affairs parliamentary law, only 32 religious community got official state recognition, and among them there is the Hungarian Islamic Community too Alhamdulillah.
